Our Special Guests:
These are some of the great musicians who contributed their time and talent to the making of [For Background Use Only].

Jano Rix: Drummer, Keyboardist and Producer extraordinare! A graduate of the U. of Miami with a degree in Jazz Piano Performance, he has since ceased this activity after realizing that it only proved confusing to himself and those around him. You might catch him playing drums and singing with the "Gabe Dixon Band" or "Jano Rix and Matt Glassmeyer" or "in the shower." He doesn't have a computer.

Greg Joseph, hi-hat:
never played with Buddy's band, but has played one tune with Art Garfunkle.

Steve Welsh has played the saxophone since he was very very short. Somewhere around 4 feet 10 inches he realized that jazz was a quick and easy way to fame and wealth. After becoming a university-certified jazz bachelor, Mr. Welsh toured the country with many fine outfits (among them: a circus, and a busful of alcoholics). Eventally, he got tired of making money and moved to New York in 2000 so he could call himself a 'struggling jazz musician' with a straight face.

When Jacob Garchik (trombone) was 7 he received from his classical piano teacher an eerily prophetic gift: his first record, a bootleg cassette dub of "Thriller". Twenty years later, he has fulfilled that prophecy. Besides playing vintage Jacko with the Morpholinos, he has played "She's a Lady" with Paul Anka, "Weird Nightmare" with Elvis Costello, "The Heart of Rock and Roll" with Billy Gilman, and "Summertime" with Michael Bolton.

A freelance trumpet player, Jeff Hermanson currently plays with N'Dea Davenport (of the Brand New Heavies), Gwen Snyder's Blueberry, the Oy! Christina Big Band and countless other bands in the NYC area. He is also a graduate of The Eastman School of Music.

Peter Hess plays tenor saxophone with all sorts of ensembles including House of Illusion, the Amy Kohn Band, and the World/Inferno Friendship Society.

Tim Albright(trombone) is originally from the Napa Valley, California. He moved to New York in 2000 and since then has enjoyed touring and recording with various groups including those led by Steve Coleman, Don Byron, Ravi Coltrane and Ralph Alessi.

Tim Ziesmer was born and raised in L.A. and started playing guitar and jazz at about 12-13 years old. Early jazz guitar influences were Steely Dan's Asia and Pat Metheny and Scofield. Tim attended the New England Conservatory of Music and studied with guitarist Mick Goodrick and composer/reedist/pianist Joe Maneri, who greatly influenced his free improvising and 12-tone sensibilities. He moved to NY in '97 and performs with the likes of Cuong Vu, Jim Black, Stomu Takeishi, Chris Speed, Kenny Wolleson, and Tom Rainey. Tim released my first CD 'Transmissions' on NCM East in 2002, a trio disc, with Drew Gress (bass) and Brook Martinez (drums). His current quartet is called Ampersand and featrues Chris Speed (tenor/clarinet), Drew Gress (bass), and Take Toriyama (drums).
